Gino Roncaglia

He is full Professor of Digital Publishing, Digital Humanities, and Philosophy of Information at the University of Roma Tre. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali, a board member of Biblioteche di Roma, and an honorary professor at the Universidad Nacional de Villa María in Argentina, as well as an author and scientific consultant for RAI. He has authored numerous monographs and over 170 scientific articles. His most recent books are L’architetto e l’oracolo. Forme digitali del sapere da Wikipedia a ChatGPT (Laterza, 2023; 5th reprint 2024) and Filosofia dell’IA (Corriere della Sera, 2025). He is the Principal Investigator of the PRIN Nereide project.

Chiara Faggiolani

She is Professor of Library and Information Science at the Department of Letters and Modern Cultures at Sapienza University of Rome, where she directs the BIBLAB Laboratory for Social Librarianship and Applied Library Research and the Master’s program in Publishing, Journalism and Cultural Management. She is the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal AIB studi and President of the Forum del Libro. Among her most recent publications are Libri insieme. Viaggio nelle nuove comunità della conoscenza (Laterza, 2025); Il problema del tempo umano. Le biblioteche di Adriano Olivetti: storia di un’idea rivoluzionaria (Edizioni di Comunità, 2024); and Come un Ministro per la cultura. Former Full Professor of Bibliography and Library and Information Science at the Department of Historical Studies of the University of Turin. His research focuses on the space, identity, and innovation of the public library (Lo spazio della biblioteca, 2013; A partire dallo spazio, 2016; The Identity of the Contemporary Public Library, 2016; Sul confine, 2024); reading and social reading (Le reti della lettura, 2016; Las redes de la lectura, 2019; La lettura, 2018; Biblioteche, lettura, intelligenza artificiale, 2024); and bibliographical culture in the digital environment (Le dimensioni della bibliografia, 2013).
He is a member of the editorial board of Culture del testo e del documento and of the scientific boards of AIB studi, DigitCult. Scientific Journal on Digital Cultures, and Sistema editoria. Rivista internazionale di studi sulla contemporaneità. He is a member of SISBB (Società Italiana di Scienze Bibliografiche e Biblioteconomiche) and AIB (Associazione Italiana Biblioteche).

Francesco Ferretti

He is Full Professor of Philosophy of Language at Roma Tre University. Since its establishment in 2016, he has directed the CoSMIC Lab. He has coordinated numerous experimental studies conducted both with clinical populations (e.g., individuals with autism and people with gambling addiction) and with typically developing populations. His main research areas include the philosophy of language and mind, the philosophy of psychology, and cognitive science.

Francesco Ferretti
Elena Ranfa

She is an adjunct professor of Contemporary Publishing at the University of L’Aquila and the University of Perugia. She has been a research fellow at Roma Tre University and previously held research grants and teaching appointments (Digital Bibliography and Library Science; Digital Humanities) at the Universities of Verona and Perugia. She earned an international PhD in Book and Writing Studies, and her main research interests focus on reading and multimedia, the relationship between information technologies and educational processes, and the evolution of publishing models and the mechanisms governing the book supply chain. Among her publications are Sguardi sulla lettura. Percorsi tra le dimensioni del leggere (Vecchiarelli, 2023) and Il processo distributivo del libro. Uno sguardo sull’editoria in Italia (Editrice Bibliografica, 2023).

Elena Ranfa
Maddalena Battaggia

She specialized at the School of Specialization in Archival and Library Heritage at Sapienza University of Rome (2019) and holds a PhD in Documentary, Linguistic and Literary Sciences (2023). She is currently a researcher at the Laboratory of Social Librarianship and Applied Library Research (BIBLAB) and a postdoctoral research fellow at the same university.
She has been managing editor of the journal AIB studi and, since June 2023, President of the Lazio Section of the Italian Library Association (AIB). Author of numerous articles and contributions in scholarly journals and edited volumes, including the book Come cambia la professione del bibliotecario (Editrice Bibliografica, 2025), her research interests focus on the study of the library profession and on the design, measurement, and evaluation of the impact of libraries and the profession on society.

Ludovica Mastrobattista

She is a postdoctoral research fellow at Roma Tre University within the NEREIDE project. In 2023, she obtained the International PhD in Tradición Literaria, Cultura Escrita y Humanidades Digitales at the University of Salamanca, receiving the “Premio Extraordinario” for her dissertation.
Her research on reading focuses on the impact of digital technologies on readers’ perceptions, habits, and behaviors. In 2022, she collaborated with the ObTIC research group and the SCAI Artificial Intelligence Center at Sorbonne University in Paris, working on approaches and tools for Distant Reading. Since 2021, she has been an affiliated member of IEMYRhd and of the GIR E-Lectra group, active on topics related to reading, digital publishing, and science communication.

Ludovica Mastrobattista

PhD candidate in Technologies for Cultural Heritage at the University of Turin. His research focuses on bibliography, metadata, and knowledge representation models in the digital environment, with particular attention to personal collections, authors’ libraries, and the application of artificial intelligence in library services.

Lorenzo Verna

CTO, entrepreneur, and researcher, Lorenzo Verna integrates industrial practice with research on LLMs. He works on conversational systems, AI governance, and large-scale document analysis processes. He collaborates with universities and companies to translate research results into operational products and processes.
His work focuses on the quality, reliability, and impact of models in data-intensive organizations, both public and private. An author and lecturer, he trains professionals in applied AI, product design, and process transformation.

Alessia Vecchi

She is a PhD candidate in Philosophy of Language at the University of Milan and Roma Tre University, within the National PhD Program ILF (Immagine, Linguaggio, Figura: form and modes of mediation). She holds a degree in Classical and Italian Studies from the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna.
She currently works in the field of Cognitive Literary Studies, with a focus on the persuasive function of language and the role of the character within narrative. Within the NEREIDE project, she participated as the main CoSMIC Lab contact, coordinating the laboratory phase, contributing to the definition of the experimental design, and administering the tests.

Alessia Vecchi
Gloria Caruso

She graduated with honors with a Master’s degree in Information, Publishing and Journalism from Roma Tre University. Previously, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public and Corporate Communication from Sapienza University of Rome. Her Master’s thesis, Neuropsicologia della lettura e applicazioni dell’eye tracking nello studio dei testi (a.y. 2024/2025), explores the cognitive processes of reading through her participation in the NEREIDE project (PRIN 2022). Her research interests concern new publishing forms, journalism, and digital information, with particular attention to the integration of language, new technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Valeria Fois

She is a Master’s student in Cognitive Sciences of Communication and Action at Roma Tre University, where she previously obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Languages and Literatures for Intercultural Communication. Her interests concern cognitive processes, experimental methodologies, and the application of cognitive science in organizational contexts.
She collaborated as an intern on the NEREIDE project, taking part in the management and administration of eye-tracking–based experiments, an experience that highlighted the importance of the experimental approach in the study of specific phenomena. She is currently collaborating on an EEG project on social perception.

Damiano Magrini

He is an undergraduate student in Philosophy and a student of Mathematics at Roma Tre University. His research interests focus on the philosophy of language and communication in its intersection with cognitive and social sciences, as well as on mathematical logic and information theory.
